An ode to Lukewarm Love

Updated: Aug 2, 2020

Text me in the morning,

Call me sometimes,

Think of me always,

And touch me, every time.

You want me near,

Even when I'm awake,

Be there for me and

Pull me back when I sway.

And then you say,

This is a lukewarm love.

We're together the whole day.

Together in thoughts,

Together at night, together in the word, together when we fight, together since we kissed..oh that fateful night!

Is this some lukewarm love?

You think of me,

Even when you're on your own.

You give me gifts of removers and balloons,

You think of me even when you're with me,

Giving me that smile..oh that smile!

I'm thinking of you even when I'm not,

I think of how you're..you're all that I've got.

And I think of how you're truly mine,

Especially when I'm down;

A couple of glasses of wine.

We're together the whole day,

Together in thoughts,

Together at night, together in the world, together when we fight, together since we kissed..oh that fateful night!

Now is this lukewarm love?

It's a different world, when we kiss.

It's a beautiful feeling when we make love.

When you are into me, and you're up above.

It's a hungry world, when we eat,

When we dig in..dig in into piles of meat,

You look into my e-eyes;

And I look at you.

Oh you kill me so, and boy you kill me good.

And then..and then what do you say,

You say this is a lukewarm love..

I'm with you,

I'll love you, but forever.

You're with me and somehow,

You never say never.

Tell me now and tell me true,

Spread the message wide it's beautiful day!

Oh tell me..is this lukewarm love?

Well since you won't say it, I'll tell you..

You cry for me,

I'll pine for you.

You hold me tight,

But I let you loose,

Oh! for you I live!

And for you, I'd move.

You know for you, I'd learn,

A lukewarm love...

I like this poem's rhythm. It plays like an old-timey musical in my head. :)
